According to the Tata Group-owned airline, members can earn Maharaja Points and Tier Points on Air India Express flights immediately by entering their Maharaja Club ID at the time of booking on its official websites and apps, as well as through travel agents.
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India and Chairman of Air India Express, said, “The growing scale of the Air India Express network makes the introduction of accruals and redemptions on these flights both timely and important, addressing a long-standing expectation of our frequent flyers. It also reflects our aim to build Maharaja Points into a valuable currency over time.”
Air India Express flights will also count towards tier progression, contributing to both minimum flight requirements and Tier Points accumulation. The earning framework covers a range of fare types, including those for senior citizens, students and armed forces personnel.
The airline also said that the points are calculated on the base fare and fuel surcharge. Members booking on the Air India Express website or app earn 8, 10, 11 and 12 points per ₹100 spent at the Red, Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, respectively.
However, bookings through other channels, including online and traditional travel agents, earn 6, 8, 9 and 10 points across the same tiers.
Redemptions are currently limited to codeshare flights bearing Air India’s ‘AI’ flight code but operated by Air India Express. Redemption prices shown are for the Economy Super Value Fare:

The airline also said that in later phases, members flying Air India Express will receive additional benefits, including priority check-in, priority boarding, seat selection and fee waivers for cancellation and rescheduling on eligible flights.
