There’s a near perfect place in Europe and Central Asia that featured in a travel influencer’s post and went viral among Indian netizens recently — and it wasn’t just because of its beauteous, unexplored landscape.
Sandwiched between Switzerland and Austria, Liechtenstein is a tiny country of just 40,000 people that had netizens hooked for its quality life and the standard of living to its people. The influencer’s video has since been taken down.
People in the principality of Liechtenstein enjoy quality life even though the microstate does not have an airport nor a currency and language of its own. It uses the Swiss franc as the official currency while the people speak German. For those looking to travel to the idyll, St Gallen-Altenrhein Airport and Zurich Airport are closest to Liechtenstein.
The locals reportedly have enough money to go about their life without doing any work, so can happily pursue their hobbies and interests, thanks to the state’s low taxes and external debt.
“Ever heard of Liechtenstein? Most people have not. But this tiny nation tucked between Switzerland and Austria is wildly unique. No airport — you have to fly into another country. No currency — they use the Swiss Franc. No official language of their own — German is borrowed. And yet, it is one of the richest and safest countries on Earth. Liechtenstein proves this: You do not need size, flash, or your own rules to thrive,” the post stated.
A solid 100% of the population have access to electricity while 99% are within range of at least a 3G mobile-cellular signal, regardless of whether or not they are subscribed to network services.

Its neighbouring countries, Switzerland and Austria, are also known for their quality of life. Both featured among the 10 most peaceful countries in the world in the Global Peace Index 2025.
The annual list stated that Switzerland — ranked sixth most peaceful country — has an exceptionally high degree of safety in society, political stability, and nearly non-existent international conflict. Austria too, ranked fourth, and scored highly in measures of well-being like income, jobs and housing.
