Choosing to bowl first after winning the toss, India kept Nepal to a modest 114 for 5 through disciplined fielding and tight bowling. The reply was emphatic. Powered by Khula Sharir’s fluent, unbeaten 44 off 27 balls, a knock studded with four boundaries, India hunted down the target in just 12.1 overs, sealing the championship with 47 deliveries to spare.
The milestone win comes just three weeks after India’s blind women’s team defeated South Africa in Navi Mumbai, further signalling the rapid rise of women’s cricket in both mainstream and visually impaired divisions.
India had marched into the final with a dominant nine-wicket victory over Australia, while Nepal edged out Pakistan in a tense semi-final to book their spot.
The World Cup, a six-nation tournament featuring India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia and the USA, began on November 11 in New Delhi. After the initial phase – including fixtures in Bengaluru – the competition shifted to Colombo for the knockouts, where India completed a historic campaign with style and authority.
