e-Aadhaar Card App Launch

To simplify updating in an Aadhaar card and removing the cumbersome process of giving various documents for minor changes, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is gearing up to launch a new mobile application called e-Aadhaar App.

The new e-Aadhaar app will make the process of changing minor details such as DoB, phone number name or address faster and completely digital. Until now, users need to visit an Aadhaar Seve Kendra to change details such as date of birth, name or address and submit physical documents.

The new e-Aadhaar app works by connecting verified government databases and enables automatic validation of supporting documents like passports, driving licences, and birth certificates.

According to Financial Express report, the e-Aadhaar app is expected to roll out by the end of 2025 for both Android and iOS platforms.

UIDAI Earlier Hikes Aadhaar Charges

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has revised Aadhaar update fees, with the changes coming into effect from October 1, 2025. Under the new structure, applicable until September 30, 2028, charges for demographic, biometric, and other updates will see an increase. This is the first major revision in nearly five years, with the next fee adjustment scheduled from October 1, 2028, to September 30, 2031.

Aadhaar generation remains free for residents under the revised rates. However, registrars will receive Rs 75 for enrolling children under five and Rs 125 for those above five. Mandatory biometric updates for children aged 5–7 and 15–17 continue to be free, while adults will pay Rs 125. Demographic updates, such as changes to name, address, or date of birth, now cost Rs 75, whether done online or at an enrolment centre. Updating Proof of Address (PoA) or Proof of Identity (PoI) documents also costs Rs 75, and Aadhaar reprints are priced at Rs 40.
