Mumbai Indians put an end to all speculation of Rohit Sharma moving to the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2026 with a witty social media post, which has expectedly gone viral.
The team ended all speculation with a cheeky social media post confirming Rohit’s continued stay. Since being replaced as skipper two years ago, he has often been linked with other franchises, but he has played on under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy, a stand Mumbai have now confirmed will continue for another season.
Mumbai Indians added a playful twist to Kolkata co-owner Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic Don dialogue, posting: “The sun will rise again tomorrow, that’s for sure. But at (K)night… मुश्किल ही नहीं, नामुमकिन है!”

Rohit had a solid run in IPL 2025, scoring 418 runs in 15 games at a strike rate of nearly 150 and an average of around 30. He notched up four fluent half-centuries, including a top score of 81, showing his trademark timing and composure.
Despite Mumbai Indians’ patchy season, Rohit’s explosive starts proved crucial, a reminder of why he remains one of the most sought-after cricketers in the league.
The five-time champions made their move just moments after Kolkata unveiled Abhishek Nayar as their new head coach.
Rohit’s name had been doing the rounds in trade rumours because of his close bond with Nayar, with whom he trains during breaks from competitive cricket.
The former Indian cricketer was elevated from assistant to head coach after playing a key role in nurturing the franchise’s young talents. A former India all-rounder with three ODIs to his name, Nayar is respected as a personal coach and has worked with stars like Rohit, KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik, as well as his protégé, Angkrish Raghuvanshi.
