9 years after her controversial exit from Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai, Shilpa Shinde is now likely to make her comeback in the popular show. If a latest viral report is to be believed, Shilpa has been approached by the makers to replace Shubhangi Atre as Angoori Bhabhi. Reportedly, talks between the actress and the makers are underway and a final decision is likely to be taken soon.
“Yes, there are talks for Shilpa to return as Angoori Bhabhi and everyone is hoping the deal materialises soon. The decision was made as everyone feels the show needs a revival. After running successfully for a decade, the channel wants to introduce new elements and characters to refresh Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai,” a source close to the show told ETimes.
“A new set is being built, and viewers can expect major changes in the storyline. The makers plan to begin shooting for Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai 2.0 by mid-December,” the insider added.
When And Why Did Shilpa Shinde Quit Bhabhi Ji?
Television actress Shilpa Shinde became a household name after she played the role of Angoori Bhabhi in the sitcom Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai. However, her sudden exit from the show in March 2016 stirred a massive controversy. Shinde quit the show citing “mental torture” by the makers, claiming that she was being asked to sign an exclusivity contract that prevented her from doing other shows and alleging unprofessionalism. She also alleged that she was owed money and that there was discrimination in the provision of staff and support.
Later, the production house also sent her a legal notice alleging breach of contract. The show’s makers accused her of unprofessional conduct.
Ever since her exit from Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai, Shilpa Shinde has not been a part of many shows. She was only seen in Bigg Boss 11, where she emerged as the winner and Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. In 2023, Shilpa Shinde also starred in Maddam Sir for a cameo role.
