The South African men’s selection panel confirmed that stand-in T20I captain David Miller and fast bowler Gerald Coetzee will miss the upcoming white-ball tour of Pakistan.

Miller, who was set to lead the T20I side in a three-match series from October 28 to November 1, has been sidelined due to a hamstring strain sustained during training. Scans revealed a grade one tear, and he will now undergo a rehabilitation programme.

Coetzee has been ruled out of both the T20I and the three-match ODI series, scheduled from November 4-8, due to a pectoral muscle injury he suffered while bowling during the one-off T20I against Namibia in Windhoek earlier this month.

Following scans and specialist consultation, Coetzee has begun a structured rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the High-Performance medical team and Momentum Multiply Titans medical staff.

SA’s Replacements?

Matthew Breetzke and uncapped Tony de Zorzi have joined the T20 squad, with Donovan Ferreira taking over as captain. Ottneil Baartman replaces Coetzee in the ODI squad. The squads are missing players being rested after the two-test series against Pakistan, including usual T20 skipper Aiden Markram, batsman Tristan Stubbs, and fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. ODI captain Temba Bavuma is also not touring as he recovers from a calf injury, aiming to be fit for the two-test series in India next month.
