In June, Dua Lipa confirmed her engagement with Callum Turner. The couple, who began dating in January 2024, took their relationship to the next level over Christmas when the Masters of the Air actor popped the question to her with a customised ring which he made on the advice of her sister Rina and her friends. Now, the 35-year-old British actor opened up on how he met his fiancée.
Sharing details about their meet-cute, Callum revealed that he met Dua over drinks right before a mutual friend’s birthday party in Los Angeles. “We sat next to each other and realised we were reading the same book, which is crazy,” the actor told The Sunday Times. The book that acted as a cupid for Callum and Dua was Hernán Díaz’s Trust.
Callum Turner Reveals His Pick-Up Line
He continued, “I had just finished the first chapter and I told her and she looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter too.’ I said, ‘So we’re on the same page.’ ” Their first meeting, as described by Callum, turned out to be something straight out of a Hollywood film. “In the movie version of it, I look up to the sky and I’m like, I hear you. I understand. The signs are loud, don’t worry. And that was really the first [moment],” he added.
At one point in the interview, Callum also talked about multiple instances where they missed meeting each other. He shared, “We had maybe two, three, four, five near misses over our time where we didn’t meet. Mutual friends and places. There’s one where she went to a party, and then I went to a party, but I arrived minutes after she left.”
He added, “There were loads of things like that, and then, when we were both able to, we were both single and whatever, I just thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world.”
Callum Turner And Dua Lipa’s Relationship Timeline
The duo was first linked in January last year, when they were spotted together after the London premiere of the actor’s Masters of the Air. Later in the same month, they were spotted sharing a kiss during a date night in Los Angeles. In July 2024, Dua slyly confirmed her relationship with Callum when she posted a picture with him attending the Glastonbury Festival together. In December, the pair quietly got engaged. In May 2025, the pair even made their red carpet debut at the MET Gala. Dua, while speaking with British Vogue in June, confirmed, “Yeah, we’re engaged. It’s very exciting.”
