While Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has opened to mostly positive reactions from audiences, not everyone seems impressed. Television actress Surbhi Chandna didn’t hold back after watching the film and publicly called it “shit” in a video shared by her husband, Karan Sharma.

The romantic comedy, starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra, hit theatres on October 2. Many fans praised its light-hearted vibe, but Surbhi’s review has now gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

“The only good part is the samosa”

Surbhi and her husband Karan went on a movie date to watch Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. During the interval, Karan filmed a clip of her munching on a samosa and asked what she thought of the movie so far.

With an unimpressed look, Surbhi replied, “The only good part of the film is this (samosa).”

Re-sharing Karan’s video on her Instagram Stories, she wrote, “Blaming you for dragging me into this shit.”

“Somebody stop this film right now”

As the film reached its climax — with Tulsi (Janhvi) running toward Sunny (Varun) in a dramatic scene — Surbhi couldn’t hide her frustration. In another clip shared by Karan, she’s heard exclaiming, “Arey… stop, stop! Somebody stop this film right now.”

Karan cheekily captioned the video, “Bollywood’s new weapon of mass destruction,” which Surbhi re-posted, adding, “We survived.”

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Review

News18 Showsha gave the film 3.5 stars. An excerpt from the review read, “The film does flirt with social commentary, though it treats these moments like passing guests at a wedding, acknowledged, but not fully embraced. There are faint nods to generational shifts in relationships, parental control, and the commodification of weddings, but these are left as subtle seasoning rather than the main dish. Khaitan does not aim to preach, only to entertain, and in that choice lies both the film’s strength and its limitation.”

It further added, “In the end, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari isn’t just a romcom. It is a vibrant echo of a cinematic tradition, one that knows its tropes, pokes fun at them, and still manages to make your heart leap in sync with its music. It is imperfect, a little unruly, occasionally rushed, but also joyous, sincere, and unexpectedly profound. It reminds us that romcoms, like old songs, never truly go out of style. They are recycled, remixed, repackaged, but at their core, they still hold.”
