Raveena Tandon revealed daughter Rasha Thadani once dreamt of being Ariana Grande before turning to acting, calling her the “aatma of a purani heroine.”

Raveena Tandon shared a fun anecdote about her daughter Rasha Thadani, revealing that before her Bollywood debut, Rasha dreamt of becoming Ariana Grande.
2025 has been a year dominated by star kids, with several newcomers making their mark in Bollywood. Among them, one name that has stood out for both talent and charisma is Rasha Thadani, daughter of veteran actress Raveena Tandon. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Rasha has quickly captured attention with her strong screen presence, expressive performances, and electrifying dance skills.
Her Bollywood debut film Azaad gave audiences a glimpse of her potential, with the track “Uyi Amma” becoming an instant chartbuster. The song not only showcased her infectious energy but also cemented her as one of the most promising newcomers of her generation. But while Rasha is now being hailed as a star in the making, her career path wasn’t always aimed at cinema. In fact, as Raveena recently revealed, her daughter once dreamt of becoming Ariana Grande.
“First She Wanted to Be Ariana Grande”
Speaking in an interview on The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, Raveena opened up about Rasha’s journey from childhood dreams to Bollywood. She recalled, “You know, it’s very surreal because honestly we didn’t expect it. We did know that she had the keeda since childhood. I used to ask her, ‘so what do you want to become?’ First her thing was, ‘I want to become Ariana Grande.’ Then from Ariana Grande it became, ‘I want to become a rockstar.’ Then from a rockstar it became, ‘you know what mom, I think I want to act.’ I was like, ‘oh, okay, we didn’t know.’ It was very sweet.”
Raveena joked that her daughter’s love for the camera was evident from the very beginning.
“Purani Heroine Ki Aatma”
Sharing an amusing childhood memory, Raveena explained how Rasha had always been drawn to mirrors, even as a baby, “When she was a 3-4 month baby, if she used to cry, the minute we picked her up and showed her the mirror, she would stop crying and just stare at herself. The minute we moved her away from the mirror, she’d start crying again. I actually have videos of her watching herself cry in the mirror. I used to tell my mom, ‘Naani ji, isme na kisi purani heroine ki aatma hai, Rasha mein.’”
According to Raveena, it was this natural love for expressions and the camera that gradually led Rasha to acting.
Mother-Daughter Collaboration
In another exciting revelation, Raveena shared that she and Rasha recently shot their first project together—an advertisement for a jewellery brand. The collaboration, Raveena admitted, felt surreal, considering her daughter had once only dreamed of pop stardom.
On the film front, Rasha is now gearing up for her next release opposite Munjya star Abhay Verma in Saurabh Gupta’s upcoming romantic action drama Laikey Laikaa.
With her star-making debut, growing popularity, and now her mother’s wholehearted endorsement, Rasha Thadani seems well on her way to building a legacy of her own. And while she may not have become Ariana Grande, she’s certainly shaping up to be Bollywood’s newest sensation.
