Jaya Bachchan is known for her furious outbursts, whether they are directed at photographers taking pictures without her permission or other individuals. In the latest, Bhojpuri star Dinesh Lal Yadav, popular as Nirahua, revealed that Jaya is short-tempered and had once attacked him with a stick. Nirahua mentioned that it happened on a shoot for their film Ganga Devi.
The Bhojpuri actor joined Siddharth Kannan for a podcast on his YouTube channel, where he reflected on his work with Jaya. Amitabh Bachchan featured in Ganga Devi (2012) with his wife Jaya and Dinesh Lal Yadav. Nirahua shared, “There was a scene where I had to slap my on-screen wife, and Jaya ji, playing my mother, had to scold me and beat me with a stick. But instead of pretending, she actually hit me. And she hit me hard! She is very short-tempered (Unhe gussa bahut aata hai). She beat me up a couple of times, and I told her, ‘You’re hitting me for real!'” Jaya reacted as she got angry over Yadav for ‘beating up’ his on-screen wife. The actor, however, defended himself saying that it was just acting.

In the same interview, Nirahua shared, “Maybe it was accidental, but I was really hurt. Still, I considered it as prasad (a blessing). After all, how many people have received the opportunity of working with both Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan together?”

Deepak Sawant, Amitabh Bachchan’s long-time make-up artist, produced the 2012 film Gangadevi, after casting the megastar in Ganga (2006). It was Amitabh’s second on-screen appearance with Jaya Bachchan in the 2000s, following Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). Ganga Devi tells the story of a woman who graduates from college with a degree in political science before marrying a social worker. The film seeks to reflect the current political situation in India.
