Shalini Pandey is set to share the screen with Dhanush in his highly anticipated directorial venture, Idly Kadai. The film, which also stars Nithya Menen and Arun Vijay, promises to be an engaging blend of powerful storytelling, stellar performances, and vibrant music.
Shalini, who made a memorable debut with Arjun Reddy, has steadily built a reputation for emotionally layered performances in films such as Jayeshbhai Jordaar and the recently released Maharaj and Dabba Cartel. Speaking about her experience, Shalini said, “Working with Dhanush sir is such a huge honour, both as an actor and as my director. I’ve had such fun and learned a great deal on this set, and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve created together.”
Idly Kadai also marks Shalini’s first collaboration with Dhanush, who is celebrated for his distinctive storytelling style. She described her role as “emotionally rich and creatively fulfilling,” hinting at a performance that will resonate with audiences.
Idly Kadai release postponed to Diwali 2025
Dhanush’s Idly Kadai has shifted its release plans to Diwali 2025, moving away from its earlier schedule that coincided with the launch of Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly. The makers opted for the new date to ensure the film enjoys a clear window at the box office.
Marking Dhanush’s fourth outing as a director, Idly Kadai boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Prakash Raj, Sathyaraj, Parthiban, and several others in key roles.
Earlier this month, the film made headlines after a fire broke out on its set in Anupapatti village, Theni district, Tamil Nadu. According to reports, the mishap occurred just days after production had shifted to a new location featuring a narrow street lined with shopfronts.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The crew evacuated the premises swiftly, prioritizing safety. Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined.
Scheduled for release on October 1, Idly Kadai is shaping up to be one of the year’s most eagerly awaited films. With its impressive cast, soulful music, and Dhanush’s dual role as actor and director, the movie is poised to offer a fresh, memorable experience to Indian cinema lovers. Produced by Aakash Baskaran with music composed by GV Prakash Kumar, the film is already being hailed as a unique cinematic offering.
