Rumour had it that Academy Award-winning actor Cillian Murphy would step into the role of Voldemort in HBO’s highly anticipated Harry Potter series. However, putting an end to all such speculations, the actor has finally revealed the truth.

During his appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast on Thursday, the actor was seen addressing the speculations of him joining the Harry Potter Universe.

Cillian Murphy Reveals Truth About Him Joining Harry Potter Series

When host Josh Horowitz asked Murphy about the rumours, the actor stated that his kids have already shown him the speculations swirling on the internet about him playing Voldemort, but he clarified that there’s no truth to the speculations. “My kids show it to me occasionally, but no, I don’t know anything about that. I mean, also, it’s just really hard to follow anything Ralph Fiennes does. The man is an absolute acting legend. So, good luck to whoever is going to fill those shoes.”

The actor firmly denied the rumours. Further, on a playful note, Murphy also mentioned that he is “very attracted” to Ralph Fiennes’ nose, the actor who played the role of Voldemort in five Harry Potter movies.

How Did the Rumours Start?

In December last year Ralph Fiennes appeared on Watch What Happens Live and shared that the Peaky Blinders actress would be the best fit for the role. “Cillian is a fantastic actor. That’s a wonderful suggestion. I would be all in favour of Cillian,” he stated, heightening the hopes among the fans.
