Renowned actor, dancer and choreographer Prabhudeva is gearing up to make his grand entry into the digital space with his first-ever OTT project, Sethurajan IPS. The upcoming crime-thriller series casts him in a completely different light as he takes on the role of a police officer leading a high-stakes murder investigation.
The series, directed by Rafiq Ismail, promises to break away from the cliches of regular cop dramas and instead dive deep into themes of power, politics and identity.
Sony LIV, the streaming platform hosting the series, unveiled the first look of Prabhudeva in Sethurajan IPS, leaving fans impressed with his raw and intense transformation. Contrasting his previous appearances, this portrayal highlights a more rugged, battle-worn side of the actor. Sony LIV teased the show while announcing their upcoming lineup on X, writing, “From new seasons of the shows you’ve always loved to new originals you’ll binge non-stop. From the thrill of live sports to unforgettable stories from across the country. The new era of entertainment starts now on Sony LIV.”
A Murder Case That Unfolds Into a Larger Conspiracy
The story is set in the heart of rural Tamil Nadu, where Sethurajan, a dedicated police officer, becomes entangled in a politically sensitive case. What begins as a routine murder probe soon spirals into a much larger battle involving justice, corruption and personal duty. The narrative sheds light on how a single case can evolve into a storm that questions integrity and truth in the face of political pressure.
Prabhudeva Shares His Experience Playing Sethurajan
As mentioned by India Today, speaking about the challenges of the role, Prabhudeva said,“Sethurajan IPS isn’t just a cop; he’s a man caught in a storm of duty, identity, and politics. This role challenged me like never before. I believe this story is not just timely, but necessary. Sony LIV has always pushed the envelope with bold, rooted storytelling and this series is no exception.”
A Look Back At Prabhudeva’s Recent Journey
Earlier in July 2025, Prabhudeva reunited with iconic stars from the Tamil and Telugu film industries who defined cinema in the 1990s. Filmmakers and actors such as KS Ravikumar, Shankar, Mohan Raja, Jagapathi Babu, Meka Srikanth, Tarun, Simran and Meena joined him in Goa for a nostalgic celebration of friendship and cinema.
On the work front, Prabhudeva was last seen in Himesh Reshammiya’s musical-spoof-action entertainer Badass Ravi Kumar. The film, directed by debutant Keith Gomes, featured an ensemble cast including Simona J, Kirti Kulhari, Sunny Leone, Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever, Rajesh Sharma, Pawan Malhotra and Mohan Joshi among others.
