Serving devotees is divine duty, says Tirupati Temple EO as he returns for 2nd term

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal on Wednesday described the Tirumala temple of Sri Venkateswara Swamy as the best-managed shrine in the country and urged staff to continue working with the same dedication in serving pilgrims. He said their commitment should serve as a model for other religious institutions across India.

Speaking at his first introductory meeting with heads of departments at Annamaiah Bhavan after resuming office for a second term as TTD Executive Officer, Singhal said serving in TTD was a long-cherished aspiration for many officers.

“Usually every IAS dreams to serve in TTD as EO for at least six months. By the grace of Sri Venkateswara and with the blessings of my parents, teachers, wishes of my family members, well-wishers today I have taken over charge as TTD EO for the second time. During my earlier stint as TTD EO for three years and 4 months, many of our employees and even devotees wished me to take the reins again. I thank Honourable CM of AP Sri N Chandrababu Naidu for giving me this opportunity. With this my responsibilities and expectation have also increased. I anticipate the same support which you all offered earlier this time also,” he said, according to the TTD website.

Singhal shared that while trekking the Alipiri footpath earlier in the day, he had interacted with devotees who praised the improved quality of the laddu and anna prasadams. “This feedback shows the commitment shown by my predecessor in improvising the prasadams. In Tirumala, there is no end for development, and several improvements have been brought over a period of time,” he added.

Outlining the priorities set by CM N Chandrababu Naidu, he said the focus would be on preserving the sanctity of the temple, enhancing amenities for pilgrims through technology, promoting the Sri Venkateswara Bhakti movement across the country by establishing temples in state capitals, and expanding the services of Srivari Sevaks.

He added that local volunteers would be engaged in their respective regions, with dedicated sevaks invited to Tirumala during festivals and peak periods.

He noted that the immediate priority would be the smooth conduct of the upcoming annual Brahmotsavams. “My predecessor Sri J Syamala Rao has informed me of the various pending works which need to be executed keeping in view the larger interests of the devotees. We need to strengthen all these systems over a period of time. We will improve TTD services by accepting the suggestions of devotees from all over the world. The various issues related to the TTD employees will also be dealt with in the coming days to find an amicable solution wherever possible,” he said.
