James Gunn confirmed that Peacemaker season 2, starring John Cena as Christopher Smith, will lead straight into his highly awaited Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow.

James Gunn has given fans a clear picture of what to expect from Peacemaker Season 2 and it’s bigger than many imagined. Gunn confirmed that the new season, starring John Cena as Christopher Smith, will lead straight into his highly awaited Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow. This revelation came after a fan suggested that there might be several other stories connecting the two projects. However, Gunn quickly corrected the idea and explained that the Peacemaker finale will link “directly” into the Superman movie.
David Corenswet And John Cena Selfie Sparks Fan Theories
Gunn’s update came shortly after actor David Corenswet, who plays Clark Kent in the new Superman film, posted an intriguing selfie with Cena. The picture, believed to be from the Peacemaker set, showed Cena in casual clothes while Corenswet was in full Man of Steel costume.
In the comments, one user predicted that Season 2 will set up the movie and even teased that Lex Luthor might appear in the final episodes. Another fan argued that the story won’t connect directly since other DC projects are planned in between. Gunn stepped in and without sharing details, he mentioned, “Directly.”
James Gunn Teases A Shocking Cameo
Earlier, James Gunn also teased that Peacemaker Season 2 would feature a surprising cameo that fans wouldn’t have seen coming.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, he said, “You’ve seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman. The QUC is the centre of the story in Peacemaker season 2… We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman. There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show.”
While DC Studios has many other titles in the works, including Supergirl, Lanterns and Clayface, among others, fans are now more curious than ever to see how the Peacemaker finale connects with Man of Tomorrow.
Season two of Peacemaker pushes the show into unexpected directions. This time, John Cena’s character is shown travelling alternate universes with the help of inter dimensional doors left behind by his late father. But his troubles don’t end there. Christopher Smith is also getting chased by Rick Flag Sr., who is determined to take revenge for the death of his son in The Suicide Squad.
