BTS’ Dynamite surpasses 2 billion YouTube views, marking a major milestone for the septet as they prepare for a new album and world tour in 2026.

Over the course of their more than a decade-long career, BTS has released numerous unforgettable tracks that continue to get fans grooving. One such standout song is their 2020 single Dynamite. Released during the COVID-19 pandemic, it quickly became a fan favourite, shattered multiple records, and even earned the septet their first-ever Grammy nomination. Once again, the same song has helped BTS unlock yet another achievement.
As reported by Soompi, BTS’ Dynamite, which the group released on August 21, 2020, has surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube as of September 4. At approximately 9:16 AM KST on Thursday, the music video for the song surpassed the 2 billion mark on the platform, and as of the time of writing, the views stand at 2,000,305,971. The music video took over five years to achieve this remarkable feat. With this, Dynamite is the septet’s first music video to have crossed the 2 billion milestone.
The upbeat track, blending elements of funk, soul, and bubblegum pop, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, marking BTS’s first-ever No. 1 single in the U.S. and making them the first K-pop act to top the chart. It held the same position for 3 weeks. Dynamite sold 265,000 downloads in its first week, recording the biggest pure sales week since Taylor Swift’s 2017 hit Look What You Made Me Do. Written by David Stewart and Jessica Agombar, it was the band’s first English-language song, whose lyrics talk about joy and appreciation for the little things that make life valuable.
When Jin Revealed BTS Didn’t Like Dynamite Much
Despite its soaring popularity, did you know that BTS was not very fond of Dynamite. During an appearance on Netflix’s show Screwball, the eldest member of the group was discussing the unprecedented popularity of the song when he shared, “Here’s the thing with Dynamite, it was never the song that the members favoured. We had a scheduled tour, but it got cancelled due to the pandemic. We couldn’t just idle, so our agency prepared three demos for us. Dynamite was the first one we heard. We asked for alternatives, but we liked the other two less. We weren’t exactly thrilled about it.”
What’s BTS Up To These Days?
Following the discharge of all seven members of BTS from the military, they have been busy working on their brand-new album. The septet returned to South Korea for a brief period after collaborating with various international producers and composers on their new album in the US. BTS has confirmed that they will be releasing their new album in the first half of 2026. After which, they will embark on their world tour.
