The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has not issued a blanket warning against travel to Turkey, but advises against all travel within 10 km of the border with Syria because of fighting and a heightened risk of terrorism. It has also said that regional escalation poses significant security risks and has led to travel disruption.
Travel advisories indicate that major tourist destinations such as Istanbul, Antalya and Cappadocia continue to function normally, although travellers have been advised to stay alert, monitor official updates and keep departure plans under review.
Flight operations to and from Turkey are continuing, but delays and cancellations remain possible as airlines adjust schedules in response to changing airspace conditions across parts of the Middle East. Turkish Airlines has also cancelled some flights to destinations in the region, including Iran, Iraq, Jordan and the UAE.
Turkey is not directly involved in the ongoing conflict, but travellers are being advised to avoid high-risk border areas and remain watchful for changes in the regional security situation.
