Google is finally bringing the Gemini AI experience to Chrome users in India and a few more countries this week. This is a crucial juncture for Google and other tech giants as the AI browser war enters the mainstream phase, and these new features coming to Chrome immediately gives it a user base of billions in markets like India.

The battle straight away looks at ChatGPT Atlas, Perplexity’s Comet and a few more that are gradually integrating AI chatbots through main or third-party sources. Chrome got Gemini access back in January this year and that version also got Auto Browse option which is Google’s AI agent running in Chrome for automated tasks.

Chrome’s Gemini AI Update For India

As we have mentioned before, you can access the Gemini 3 powered AI in the side panel of Chrome by clicking on the Gemini icon at the top-right of the screen. The chat box interface with a text box will allow you to share the prompts and make requests for different features.

Google is also bringing support for Nano Banana image editor in Chrome with this update and you can simply type the prompt to generate AI images in seconds. The AI image model can also be used to modify existing photos that you upload and get a different version from Gemini.

The other big addition is auto browse which is not making its way out of the US region for now. It is the logical evolution of Chrome from a web browser to an AI browser. Not only can you ask the AI to shop for items, you can seek a specific request and also limit its search to a particular price range or a brand.

There are obvious concerns about how Google plans to handle this data, which is surely not going to run on-device and that’s where the privacy concerns really come to the fore. We have already talked about prompt injections becoming an obvious threat with AI agents on the loose and the risks clearly outweigh the benefits of the convenience for many.
