ChatGPT adult mode has been in the news for a while but OpenAI might be now focusing its energy on more bigger projects.
The adult mode in ChatGPT was first confirmed by Sam Altman.
OpenAI has been working on its high-discussed adult mode that brings erotica content and conversations to ChatGPT for users. But it seems the company is facing more delays with the mode which many expected to release by early this year. Sam Altman, CEO, OpenAI had first talked about the feature rolling out.
He mentioned that OpenAI has been able to mitigate the mental health issues with new tools, which is giving them the confidence to take ChatGPT into the adult table. With these changes ChatGPT will become very much like Grok AI chatbot that has mastered all kinds of content, including erotica which is available via virtual companions like Ani.
Adult Mode Running Late: No Surprises?
Adult mode has been widely talked about, not just because of what it means for ChatGPT but also the whole AI ecosystem going one step closer to really getting personal with the users. OpenAI has said the mode will be released soon but the new reported delay of the adult mode suggests that the ship has either sailed or been anchored on the docks for more important projects and features.
The company also has other matters to handle, especially its deal with the US government, which Anthropic refused to sign owing to certain conditions and issues with how they wanted to use the Claude AI chatbot and its models.
ChatGPT 5.4 was rolled out recently, and it does feel like the adult mode feature, with the government on the radar, has to be put on the backburner once again and bring more functional features and tools to the market before the less urgent ones.
The company has also moved past the ‘code red’ stage as per reports, which could be aided by a wider range of projects in its pipeline. Having said that, the hardware plans have taken a hit and we might have to wait at least until 2027 to see the company launch its rumoured AI earbuds and other devices in the market.
