Major airlines such as IndiGo, Etihad Airways, Air India, and Emirates have released advisories giving refunds, free rescheduling, and flexible rebooking for impacted travellers.
The largest Indian airline, IndiGo, has prolonged the suspension of a few international flights that fly over the impacted airspace and offered complete flexibility and waiver benefits for passengers going to and from the Middle East, The Economic Times reported.
The airline issued a travel advisory on X (formerly Twitter), noting that passengers who booked on or before February 28, 2026, for travel through March 7, 2026, will be eligible for free rescheduling or a complete refund.
Without naming specific routes, the airline stated that the waiver also extends to some other affected overseas sectors.
“If your booking is impacted, you will receive timely notifications on your registered contact details, and our teams will connect with you directly to provide assistance and guide you through the available options,” the IndiGo travel advisory reads.
The airline claimed to have “meticulously evaluated the evolving regional trends and their potential impact on flight operations” before adopting what it called the ‘most responsible’ course of action in the interest of safety.
The temporary suspension of some international aircraft passing through portions of West Asian airspace has been extended as part of IndiGo’s ongoing precautionary strategy. The airline’s official website offers passengers the option of a full refund or a free rescheduling of their trip.

The disturbance came after Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was assassinated in a joint US-Israeli attack, and the fierce retribution from Tehran. More than 100 international flights were cancelled at Delhi IGIA amid the growing tensions, and Mumbai reported 125, according to The Times of India.
Other airlines issue travel advisories
Besides IndiGo, several other major airlines have issued travel advisories in the wake of the ongoing war. Additionally, airports in the UAE, Israel, Qatar, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman have closed their airspace.
In a travel advisory shared on X, Air India declared that it halted flights to and from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Qatar until March 2. Around 125 international flights were cancelled, and noted that flights to North America and Europe would take alternate routes with technical stops in Rome. Passengers were advised to check online for updates.

Akasa Air also suspended flights to and from Abu Dhabi, Doha, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Riyadh until March 2. It provided impacted travellers with free rescheduling or complete refunds. “Passengers with impacted bookings until March 7, 2026, can opt for a full refund or reschedule their travel at no additional charge,” their statement read.

SpiceJet cancelled all flights for March 1 and March 2, 2026, between India and the UAE. Their travel advisory on X read, “Due to the temporary closure of UAE airspace amid the present scenario, all SpiceJet flights operating between India and the UAE have been cancelled till 01 March 2026.”
The airline recommended travellers to check the status of their flight before heading to the airport.
