This came after Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran, plunging the region into a renewed conflict. This further dims hopes for a diplomatic solution to nuclear talks with the West, Reuters reported.
Earlier in the day, Air India informed that it diverted its Delhi-Tel Aviv flight to Mumbai after the closure of Israeli airspace.
“AI139 operating from Delhi to Tel Aviv on 28 February is returning to India due to closure of airspace in Israel and in the interest of safety of passengers and crew,” the airline said in a statement.
The statement added, “Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers due to this unforeseen situation and remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety… We will continue to assess the safety and security environment for our flight operations and adjust operations proactively as needed”.
IndiGo wrote on X that it was “closely monitoring regional updates” in Iran.
“The safety and security of our customers and crew remain our highest priority. Our teams stand prepared to implement any necessary adjustments as the situation evolves,” it stated.
The airline has advised its customers to check their flight status prior to departure.
“In the event of any impact, updates will be communicated promptly via registered contact details. We will continue to keep you informed and remain fully committed to providing our unwavering support during this period,” it added.

Several international airlines have already suspended flights in the region.
Lufthansa has suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv in Israel, Beirut in Lebanon, and Oman until March 7, in addition to suspending flights to and from Dubai on Saturday and Sunday.
Air France has cancelled all flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut slated for Saturday.
Wizz Air has decided to suspend flights to and from Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Amman with immediate effect until March 7, while Air Arabia has cancelled flights to Iran, Iraq and other parts of the region.
Noting that the ‘major combat operations’ were underway, US President Donald Trump has urged people in Iran to ‘take over’ the government, saying “it will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations”
This comes after a 12-day air war in June last year between Israel and Iran.
