Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra was the big highlight at this week’s Unpacked event and even with the new device there is one major focus. The privacy display has been teased over the last few weeks and now we finally got a chance to see it close-up, read more about its use case, how it was developed and more.

Samsung says it has taken 5 years to do the research and make the feature available on a market-ready product, which is a feat in itself. But how does the privacy display stand out and what does it help the users with? Here are the answers.

Samsung’s Privacy Display On Galaxy S26 Ultra: How It Was Made

Samsung says the privacy display will help users limit the side-angle viewing which is usually the case when you have people sitting next to you and are peeping into the phone.

It has made the display without putting a separate screen protector and also affecting the front side view for the person holding the phone.

How To Use Privacy Display

Now comes the easier part. How to use the built-in feature on the Galaxy S26 Ultra? Samsung says you can set up a short cut way to use the display option by double-pressing the side button. Or you can head deep into the settings of the device, search for a privacy display and turn it on.

The company also gives you the choice of some conditions where you want it to work. This includes message notifications, passwords or even the OTPs that you get from banks or other apps.

Samsung hasn’t said if this feature is backward compatible but in all likelihood it will only work with the Galaxy S26 Ultra model, and the future versions from the brand. Having said that, we’ve heard reports about other Android brands already working on their version of privacy display which we could see rolled out with future models later this year. Till then, we are hoping to get a chance to closely look at the feature and how effectively it can keep your screen and the content on it safe from the prying eyes.
