The India AI Impact Expo 2026 in Delhi has become a stage for new technology and homegrown innovation. Among the many companies present, a Bengaluru-based robotics startup, General Autonomy, has grabbed attention with the unveiling of its quadruped robot, ‘Param’.
Calling it India’s most powerful indigenous robot dog, the company made it clear that Param was not assembled from imported parts but built from scratch by Indian engineers.
“Enough of this nonsense! Presenting PARAM: India’s most powerful indigenous robot dog. Not assembled, not bought, BUILT IN INDIA, built by INDIANS. For our nation, for our century, for our world,” the company wrote in an X post.
Param Shows Strong Mobility And Smart Features
A video shared by the startup shows Param moving through Bengaluru traffic with ease. The robot can detect obstacles, climb stairs up to 30 cm high and even crab walk to pass through low spaces. According to the company, it supports autonomous navigation, tracking and can recover on its own after a fall.
Sharing about the timeline, the team said the development has been underway for about seven months. “Tough to quantify time as we took a lot of learnings from our humanoid to build this but the project has been on for about 7 months now and we continue to improve it every fortnight,” the company mentioned on X.

Last month, the startup also showcased Param before Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an event marking a decade of Startup India.
“Honoured to present our robot dog PARAM to the Hon’ble PM of India Shri @narendramodi, in the presence of @PiyushGoyal at the #NationalStartupDay2026 Deep Tech showcase,” the startup posted on X, adding: “PM’s advice to our founder @frdahsan: take care of PARAM in Delhi winters!”
What Are Robodogs? Use, Benefits, Etc
Quadruped robots, often called robodogs, are designed to move on rough ground where normal machines with wheels cannot go. They can climb stairs, cross uneven surfaces and carry equipment.
These robots are reportedly used for checking factories, power plants and construction sites. They help inspect hard-to-reach areas and can monitor safety conditions. In disaster situations, they can move through rubble and search for survivors without risking human lives.
Robodogs are also reportedly used in defence and security for patrol and surveillance. In farming, they help monitor crops and manage livestock. In mining and research, they explore narrow and risky areas.
One big benefit of these robots is their balance and ability to work in tough places. However, they are expensive to build and maintain. They also reportedly use a lot of power and may not carry as much weight as wheeled machines.
