YouTube Down: Video-sharing platform YouTube suffered a widespread global outage, leaving users across multiple countries unable to access videos and other services. More than 320,000 users in the United States alone reported problems on outage-tracking website Downdetector, with many encountering a “Something Went Wrong” error message while trying to use the app and website.
Which Countries Are Affected By YouTube Outage?
The disruption appeared to affect users worldwide, including in India, the United Kingdom and several other countries, according to user reports, indicating the outage was not limited to a single region.
Is YouTube TV Also Impacted?
YouTube TV was also hit, with nearly 10,000 outage reports logged. This suggested the disruption extended beyond the main video platform to its live television streaming service.
What YouTube Said On Outage?
TeamYouTube acknowledged the outage and said it was investigating the issue.
“We’ve been looking into this issue, and while we don’t have a fix just yet, we’re keeping a close eye on it. We’ll provide any updates when they’re available,” the company said.
The company has not disclosed the cause of the outage or provided a timeline for when full service will be restored.
Social Media Reactions On YouTube Outage
Despite the disruption, many users reacted with humour, sharing memes and jokes about the outage and their failed attempts to fix what initially appeared to be individual technical problems.
“Guys, YouTube DEAD for anyone else? ‘Something went wrong’ screen stuck on loop—no videos loading at all!! Am I alone or is it global?” one user wrote.
Another posted, “Boy ain’t no WAY YouTube is down & having a global power outage on my off day.”
A third user highlighted the scale of the disruption, saying, “YouTube outage so bad the Downdetector page crashes” while another asked, “YouTube, you good bro? Sounds like a global outage right now.”
