YouTube is putting AI to good use and making people watch diverse videos
YouTube has introduced its AI-powered feature for all the users earlier this month. The streaming platform continues to widen its reach and using AI it wants more people to watch diverse content without having the language limitations.
The auto-dubbing option is being made available for billions of YouTube users who can now access content in over 27 languages and restricted to videos that are available in their original dialect. The feature has been around for a while but YouTube has limited its reach with select content getting the support. Now it will work for all videos and for everyone.
YouTube Auto-Dubbing Now Available For Everyone
YouTube made the big reveal about auto-dubbing earlier this month, and shared the details about use, its utility and how it makes watching videos more expansive. The company assures that since its first release, auto-dubbing now sounds more natural and not robotic across the content. Using AI probably allows the platform to make the audio seamlessly dub the content without facing audio sync issues.
You will get the feature in the advanced settings on YouTube, where you can manually select from Dutch, Hindi, German, French for the original English content. The technology is also being used to make the dubbed content look better with the lip sync doing its regular job and not offer a jarring experience to the viewer.
Meanwhile, YouTube continues to block more users from using this popular feature which has become part of its premium offering for a few years. The platform offers background playback which means the song can continue playing even when the screen is turned off or you access other apps on the device.
This is mostly a premium feature but many users bypassed this restriction by using it for free via third-party web browsers that don’t redirect you to the Android app for the streaming platform. Now reports suggest even these routes to use the option free are being blocked by the company.
