Nothing launched its flagship last year that shocked people with its price tag, so this year it wants to focus on other segments.
Nothing Phone 4 is cancelled so what can we expect?
Nothing CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that Phone 3 will be its flagship model for 2026 which means we won’t be seeing a premium Phone 4 model this year. They company is sticking with its 2-year upgrade policy which was also evident when the Phone 2 was announced in the market.
“We’re not just going to churn out a new flagship every year for the sake of it, we want every upgrade to feel significant. Just because the rest of the industry does things a certain way it doesn’t mean we will do the same,” Pei said in a recent video.
The company is going to continue with its focus on the mid-range Phone a-series models and also expand its audio category which means Ear 4, Headphones 2 and maybe some more for the CMF brand.
Nothing Says No To New Flagship Phone: Right Call?
So now that we know the Phone 4 launch is cancelled, what can we expect from the Phone 4a series? Pei claims the new mid-range model will be taken closer to the flagship experience this year, which does suggest hardware upgrades all around but we would wait for the official details to get excited on this front.
After all, the company talks about device experience with a different take and this flagship experience could centre around that. Pei has earlier said that phones will be costlier than before thanks to the RAM shortages in the market.
So the excitement around Phone 4a series will be tempered till the company actually lives up to these tall claims. He does talk about experimenting with bold colours, so hopefully, Nothing this year can give us more brighter colours aka CMF lineup.
Phone 3 came out last year for Rs 79,999 which shocked many people. The company stuck to its decision for a while after which we saw the flagship device sell for under Rs 50,000 in the market. Some might say that Phone 3 at that price in 2026 becomes an underrated option that buyers might be tempted to consider, especially with how the new phone launches are panning out.
