Apple AirTag 2 gen model is here with a familiar design
Apple AirTag has finally been upgraded and the company has launched its second-gen version in the market this week. The Bluetooth-based tracker device has got its first upgrade in the last five years, giving Apple plenty of room and scope to improve the device and make it even more powerful in many aspects.
The company has changed the connectivity chip which gives tracking better precision and the design internally has been tweaked to pack a bigger speaker unit.
Apple AirTag Second-Gen Price In India
Apple AirTag second-gen version is priced in India at Rs 3,790 for a single unit, and you also have the four-pack option which will cost you Rs 12,900 in the country. AirTag will be available via Apple online store on the web and mobile app. You can even get a free engraving done to personalise the tracker to identify it easily.
Apple AirTag Second-Gen: What’s New
The main focus of the AirTag second-gen version is to offer better accuracy with the location tracking. And for that Apple is using a new ultra Wideband chip which is claimed to improve that precision by up to 50 percent from the first-gen model.
The design of the AirTag 2 has been changed to fit in a new speaker that is claimed to be 50 percent louder which means you can hear the tracker for double the distance of the first version. Having said that, you won’t feel any physical changes in the way the new AirTag looks or even weighs.
You can also use the AirTag 2 tracking feature with Apple Watch Series 9 (or later), and Watch Ultra 2 or later models. That said, the company has carried forward some of the features from the previous AirTag as well. The IP67 rating is still there (no IP68 for some reason) which offers dust and water splash resistance to some level. And the battery life also remains the same with claims of the device lasting for more than a year on a single battery.
