Siri is getting a major overhaul not once but twice this year and Apple will seek Google’s support to make it work.
Siri could become an AI chatbot like ChatGPT in 2026
Apple is going to bring its new-look Siri AI version in the next few months but the company seems to be planning for something bigger which we could see when the iOS 27 update rolls out later this year. A new report claims Apple will use the AI Siri version as a placeholder for a few months and it will replace the existing Siri with an AI chatbot version.
Bloomberg has mentioned that Apple is finally going the ChatGPT way with Siri and the overhauled AI chatbot will be rolling out with the iOS 27, macOS 27, and the iPadOS 27 versions.
Google’s AI Powering Apple’s Siri
The report further mentions that Apple is internally calling this AI chatbot Campos, but the public version will be Siri again. The company can easily look to move beyond the current branding and give its AI push a fresh start but it seems like Siri is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Apple’s new Siri will be a standalone app that will work within Apple devices and just like Gemini on Android phones, you can call out Siri for any kind of assistance.
This new AI chatbot will be powered by the custom Gemini AI model that Apple and Google are working on with their reported deal which has been in the news for the last few weeks. The new Siri avatar will do everything that Gemini and ChatGPT offer for their users.
You can make it search on the web, generate AI images using prompts, analyse documents or even allow Siri to read content through your camera. Furthermore, this Siri will be integrated with other Apple products and it will cater to both text and voice-based conversations.
The report says Apple could unveil this new-gen Siri at the WWDC 2026 this year and before that we could see the iOS 26.4 update offering the much delayed Siri update for iPhone and other Apple devices.
The company needs a strong AI push and the Siri AI reboot with a lot of help from Google (for which it will be paid) could show the world that Apple finally means business.
