The new details come via a tipster from China, who suggests the OnePlus 16 could finally get a meaningful camera upgrade and also join the big battery battle in 2026 among other names who have already done it.

The details about the OnePlus 16 have been shared by tipster Digital Chat Station via their Weibo account. It claims OnePlus is planning for a big upgrade on the OnePlus 16 model with a new hardware and a high-res periscope camera.
It also highlights the use of a bigger Glacier battery which hints at a 9,000mAh+ sized battery pack on the next flagship from the brand. We could see the device sporting an OLED display but higher refresh rate than the 165Hz panel on the OnePlus 15.
But the main focus is likely to be with the cameras, and OnePlus 16 could pack some serious power on that front. The tipster points to a solid quad camera system where you have two 50MP sensors along with a 200MP periscope lens and a 2MP sensor for colour accuracy.
Most people have talked about OnePlus not going big with imaging tech as much as its other focus areas but 2026 could see a big change in this regard.
These rumours stoked the possibility of OnePlus bringing a new ‘Pro’ or Ultra variant for the 16 series but that is unlikely to happen. And with these hardware upgrades, OnePlus will be hoping that buyers are not too critical about the inevitable price hike which most brands are going to force down our wallets this year.
