Samsung is planning to keep its Galaxy AI tools free but will users be able to have them available for that deal all the time?
Samsung could keep its Galaxy AI tools for free but not all of them
Samsung Galaxy AI features have been available over the last few years and most of them have been free so far but the company, like many others, could be planning for a big change on that front. Samsung has relied on Google’s Gemini to get off the ground but now the Galaxy AI suite is dynamic and feature-rich. So does that mean the company is happy to start charging for its AI suite and are people willing to do that?
Samsung seems to have updated its Galaxy AI policy recently which hints at some good news for the buyers but some details that puts a question mark on the whole free policy.
Samsung Galaxy AI Free Forever?
The updated Galaxy AI policy says all its basic features will be provided for free and that chimes in with the earlier rumours about Samsung happy to keep its in-house AI tools available free of cost.
These features are Note Assist, Live Translate, Writing Assist, and Audio Eraser among others. Samsung had reportedly said that all the Galaxy AI features that come pre-installed on its phones will be available free of charge for lifetime. And the new policy change could be indicating those promises.
But which part of AI on Samsung devices could become paid? It seems Samsung has the control over pricing for its own AI suite but the others linked to Gemini AI (via Google) will probably have a different strategy and the South Korean brand will have no say.
Especially since the Google Gemini AI model already has paid tiers like Pro and Ultra in the market. But these companies have made a deal which lets you use some of the AI features with the new devices for free.
AI features are still niche and only a small section of users are relying on them for their daily purposes. In fact, this has pushed Google and OpenAI to offer lower-tier plans and even tie up with operators to make their services free for a year or even more in some cases.
People might say that the cost of buying a flagship device should include the price of using the AI features but with the ever-growing demand for AI systems, that cost is unlikely to be borne by the companies for a long time.
