OnePlus Open 2 launch has been expected since last year but it seems we might not see it happen in 2026 either.
OnePlus Open never got a sequel and 2026 could follow the same trend
OnePlus has started 2026 with the launch of the Turbo 6 series in China and many have been eager to hear about its plans for a foldable device this year. But a new report suggests the company could once again delay its focus on the segment which means the OnePlus Open 2 model is most likely cancelled for this year as well.
That’s not all, the OnePlus 15s compact device which may be seen as the successor to the 13s model is also unlikely to launch anytime this year. Both these devices were highly anticipated but it seems that hype will fizz out even before the company makes the big reveal.
OnePlus Foldable Not Launching, But Why?
The OnePlus Open 2 did not come in 2025 and now according to tipster Yogesh Brar, the brand has no plans to re-enter the foldable arena in 2026 either. This is likely linked to OnePlus working closely under Oppo over the last few years and the parent company expected to launch its next Find N6 foldable in global markets this year.
So rather than having the same product under two different brands, Oppo might feel one device helps them manage the costs and other parts of development.
Similarly, you have the OnePlus 15s, which, according to Brar could also have a clash of ideology and moniker with the rumoured OnePlus 15T model that many expect to be in the same vein as the OnePlus 13s version.
OnePlus is focusing on performance-grade devices, so making a foldable no longer fits into that strategy. We expect the company to work on more products in the Nord lineup, expand the Turbo series further and keep the number flagships with ‘R’, ‘T’ and even ‘S’ rolling out of the production units.
Having said that, none of the news about the OnePlus Open 2 and the 15s getting cancelled are officially confirmed so we don’t mind if you take some of the news with a pinch of salt and wait for the brand to reveal its own launch plans for the year.
