Logitech MX Master 4 is more or less building on the good parts of the previous versions and looks to give more value.

Logitech is known more for computer accessories and other products but the MX Master is an easy recall for most users. This is a professional lineup that usually caters to the serious users but you cannot discount the value of a good, ergonomic mouse even for your regular. So, in comes the MX Master 4 version, succeeding the Master 3 (and 3s) to give you another premium version of mouse that most people use and wonder, why spend so much on a mouse.

But look beyond the price tag, and get to really see the value of this product, the opinions change. We’ve gone through a similar trajectory with the Master 3 so it was obvious to give the MX Master 4 a decent shot to see what the upgraded version offers.

Some Design Tweaks

Logitech seems to have realised the earlier models had a finishing that doesn’t age well, so the new MX Master 4 version comes with a less matte finish and more focused on hard plastics. This makes the mouse look less premium but it is sure to handle the daily wear and tear over the long term better.

The functional side of the MX Master 4 is a lot similar and when you group the mouse, the tactile feel of the palm planted on the surface is smooth and comfortable, as long as you are a right-handed person.

The new model of the MX Master series is around 10 grams heavier (152 grams) than the MX Master 3 (143 grams) version.

The Noiseless Click

Logitech is going further into noiseless buttons with the MX Master which now means you have some of quietest buttons offered on a mouse with the click feedback being the only response you get while pressing the button. It might sound (or not) a bit weird initially but some people might like the buttons being quiet, but we would rather prefer them making the clickity sound.

The bigger size of the MX Master 4 means the buttons for left and right click are wider which means you have more room to grip and go ahead with your tasks. The battery indicator has been shifted from the side to the top near the buttons which makes it easier to access.

How It Works

It is a mouse, alright but when you spend the big bucks on one, you expect a lot more. The MX Master 4 does the basics well, and we are not surprised. For new users the design of the mouse can take some time getting used to (we also did with the Master 3) but once you do that, using any other mouse will make you feel like something is missing.

The comfort, the ergonomic touch and the way the buttons are placed, it just works. The scroller is also more intuitive now, and the mix of plastic and textured finish just gives it a better finesse touch. The other big change with the MX Master 4 is that you now have a USB C dongle that connects to the PC rather than the regular USB version.

It Lasts Long

Logitech has made the MX Master 4 heavier but that means you get a bigger 650mAh battery which is more than the 500mAh unit on its predecessor. The company claims 70 days of battery life like the Master 3 which doesn’t change which is likely catering to the new features like haptics and gestures. We’ve been using the MX Master 4 for a few weeks and started it at around 60 percent and till date it has dropped to 54 percent which is decent by any means.

The MX Master 4 is an evolutionary upgrade from the Master 3 or 3S and if you have been using the older ones for a while, this one is not really worth jumping to. However, for new users, MX Master 4 is a good way to see what the hype is all about.
