Sony PlayStation 6 launch is not expected soon but the ongoing RAM shortage could have a bigger impact on consoles like these in the next few years. We are going to see phone prices, PC prices increase because of the RAM demand from the AI industry, and this could affect the gaming segment as well.

The report by Insider Gaming claims RAM module prices have been hiked to meet the shortage and the gaming brands could be forced to wait for the prices to come down, and that means the PlayStation 6 launch delay is being heavily tipped.

PS6 Launch Delay: AI At Fault?

All the demand for AI tools, AI features are having a big impact on the RAM market, forcing companies to build components that the industry needs. This means phone, PC and now the console segment is facing a shortage which will make them realign their launch plans, or reduce their product range for the next few years.

Sony PS6 launch is not expected before 2027-2028 but with the RAM price hike likely to be in effect for a while, could the company look to offset these changes by delaying its launch? It cannot be completely ruled out but we would wait for Sony to share those details.

Because the PS6 launch goes ahead in the next 24 months, buyers can expect a big premium to own the latest consoles which could have a ripple effect on the number of units Sony is able to sell across its markets.

Meanwhile, Sony continues its discount-spree in the country after a recent PS 5 Slim price cut for buyers. The new year-end sale for 2025 is now live and you can pick them up from across online and offline platforms in the country.

Sony’s year-end holiday sale in the country is bringing a wide range of accessories like the DualSense controller, PS VR2 and PS earbuds along with PS5 games with special discount up to Rs 2,500 and you can pick these up from December 23, 2025 running until January 5, 2026 in the country.
