Perplexity Pro AI free offer in India has been revised for anybody who signed up with Airtel for the one year plan from the AI company. Many users have got an email this week, where Perplexity has updated the policy for its free AI Pro plan which now requires everyone to add a payment card (debit or credit) to continue using the free Perplexity Pro trial plan for 12 months.

This email also comes with easy access to the profile account of the users, where they will be directed to the update payment option page to allow them to continue using the free AI tools from the company. 

Perplexity AI Free Offer Exists But Why Change? 

Perplexity and Airtel launched the AI Pro offer in July this year, allowing Airtel prepaid, postpaid, broadband and DTH users to use their registered number and email ID and create an account with Perplexity for its Pro subscription. Back then, the terms will be clear, you don’t need to add any payment method to use its services. 

But the updated terms have been revised without telling the customers about the change, and just sending them a direct mail with a subject line, “Action Required: Add a card to keep your Perplexity Pro trial,” as you can see in the clip below. 

The company says it is making the change to protect the free AI offer for legitimate users. This line suggests Perplexity has noticed rogue users signing up for its free offer which does seem quite hard to believe. It further adds that, “You need to add a valid payment method to continue your trial.” It also points out that, “Your card will only be charged after your trial offer ends, and your subscription will renew automatically unless cancelled beforehand.” 

People are understandably not pleased about the big change by the company and many who signed up for the free offer that came without any riders are now looking to end their trial right away.  

Adding payment details indirectly gives access to more information about the users and Perplexity might find it hard to gain their support if it makes changes out of the blue. 

Perplexity AI Pro Offer: How To Add Your Card For Free Trial 

The first thing you should make sure is that Perplexity has sent the email to your registered ID. Now, follow these steps to continue using the free offer: 

• Click on Update card information button
• Add your credit/debit card number and other details
• Click on Update
• Perplexity will include the details for your account and let you continue the free trial.

In case you don’t want the company to debit the payment amount after the free offer, disable the auto pay option. 

Airtel Perplexity Pro Offer: Features Worth Rs 17,000 For Free 

The Perplexity Pro offer is claimed to give you features worth Rs 17,000 for free, these are: 

• Run thousands of searches
• Choose from GPT 4.1, Gemini, Claude and more models
• Upload and analyse documents
• Generate AI images using DALL-E and Flux

Perplexity free offer isn’t the only deal available for users in the country anymore. Google and OpenAI have their own free plans for Gemini and ChatGPT Go, respectively, and this move by Perplexity could force all these users to jump ship.
