Finding videos or photos generated using AI can be easy if they have the right watermarks but Google is now making it easier with a new tool to help you identify the manipulated content. Gemini is now available across Google products like Gmail, and Docs but the company is offering the AI model for a better cause, allowing people to differentiate between what’s real and what has been generated using any of the available AI tools thanks to the latest AI watermarking technology that many companies have adopted. Gemini’s AI Video Or Not: Open the Gemini app on your phone and upload the video or image that you want the AI model to verify the content. The video file cannot exceed 100MB in size and is 90 seconds long. (File Photo)

Ask Gemini To Check: Now you just need to ask Gemini to verify the video using a question like, “Was this generated using Google AI? or it could be “Is this AI-generated” if you feel other apps were used to create it. (File Photo)

The SynthID Effect: Gemini is able to scan the video for the SynthID watermark which is present in both the audio and visuals of the content. Google has trained Gemini to analyse the content and identify the AI-generated parts, courtesy the SynthID marking. The AI model will inform the user which aspect of the video where the AI tool has been used and for how long. (File Photo)

How Gemini Scans For SynthID: Google and other tech companies have developed SynthID that only the AI models and its tools can detect. These watermarks are not visible to humans and because of which, removing their trace within the content is tough. (File Photo)

Google Pushes For AI-Level Scanning: Google launched SynthID back in 2023 and since then over 20 billion content pieces generated using AI tools have been watermarked with the technology. That’s not all, Google is working with third-party companies to watermark their respective AI generated content for better transparency and scanning. (File Photo)
