Voicemail is coming to Truecaller for Android users in India. This feature allows you to receive a message when the person misses a call. The tool is available for all free users in the country while the premium subscribers get the AI assistant version which is more advanced in its behaviour. The voicemail can be heard or even read thanks to the AI-powered transcription option which is available in 12 Indian languages.

How It Works

Voicemail has been around in the market for years but these new-age apps are bringing the feature to enhance their portfolio to attract more users. As we mentioned, Truecaller is supporting the tool for Android users and it is available for free.

The voicemail option works when you enable call forwarding for the mobile number. The voicemail messages appear in a separate tab on the app and you get the option to hear the voice message or transcribe them into text and read them without calling the person back. The company also asks you to update to the latest version of the app for the new feature to be compatible on your device.

Truecaller assures that all the voicemails are stored directly on the device and not sent to any server for data sharing. The AI feature in different languages takes help from downloaded packs to give you full control and privacy for all the voicemails.

The Premium version of voicemail is able to answer your calls, talk to the person and other personalised features. Truecaller is starting the voicemail feature with India for now with other regions to get it after testing is done.

The company’s main caller ID business faces a tough challenge from the Indian government’s CNAP system which is gradually rolling out across different operators in the country. The built-in caller tool works without any app and relies on the user registered details for their phone number.
