Images is OpenAI going up against the new Nano Banana Pro version

Nano Banana Pro has got a new and upgraded rival in the form of ChatGPT Images from OpenAI, which is claimed to be four times faster than the previous model. This comes a few days after ChatGPT 5.2 rolled out for all paid users, and bringing ChatGPT Images now suggests it is built on the new model.

The company is polishing the tools for image editing, getting better with understanding your prompts and delivering the images with accurate details. 

ChatGPT Images Is Here: What’s New 

The first thing you notice with ChatGPT Images is that OpenAI has added a new Images section in the sidebar. ChatGPT may have set the cat amongst the pigeons with Studio Ghibli style viral trend but Google’s Nano Banana Pro has taken the lead since then, which is why ChatGPT Images has to get a lot of things right. 

The first thing OpenAI has focused on is the performance of Images which not only generates images with prompts but also lets you add, combine and even blend multiple images, just like Nano Banana Pro. ChatGPT Images also gives you a choice of preset prompts that you can experiment with and add your own flavour or ideas. 

How To Use ChatGPT Images 

ChatGPT Images is rolling out now and you can access it via the mobile apps or even the web version. 

• Open ChatGPT website
• Click on the + icon and select Create image
• You can choose from preset filters to generate the image or describe the prompt

ChatGPT also has Images on the sidebar on the left side of the interface where you can see different styles, discover something new and even see your image generation history on the platform. You don’t see ChatGPT Images mentioned anywhere but it is most likely powering the new image model for all users, even the free subscribers. 

For all the hype around AI, you get a feeling that image generation has been the main fodder for all the tech giants, something that Google has mentioned with its claims of over 500 billion image generation using Nano Banana and the Pro version.
