Zoom is facing another security risk issue and the government is warning them
Zoom users in India have been warned of a new security issue which concerns the Zoom Rooms feature on Windows and macOS devices. The warning from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In with a high severity rating which is a big concern.
Zoom is widely popular among consumers and businesses for video meetings and other activities supported by the platform, so any security risk will pose issues for people using it for their businesses and personal use.
Zoom Security Risk: What You Should Know
The latest security risk alert regarding Zoom Rooms from CERT-In says, “multiple vulnerabilities exist in Zoom products due to external control of file name or path and Protection Mechanism Failure of software-downgrade in the affected applications.”
The threat alert comes with a high-severity rating and the risks are serious enough that can be targeted at any business or an individual using Zoom for their work or personal use. They can even use the vulnerabilities to bypass the security of the device and access sensitive information, the agency warns.
The latest Zoom security issue affects the following products:
- Zoom Rooms for Windows before version 6.6.0
- Zoom Rooms for macOS before version 6.6.0
The versions mentioned here need to be quickly fixed using the latest security bulletin from Zoom with its update issued for the respective platforms. We suggest you to open Zoom on your desktop/mac and click on the available software update for the platform right away.
