Google Pixel Watch series has evolved with every generation so when we got a chance to try the Pixel Watch 4, we were hoping to see the upgrades, improvements and the finesse get better with the new model. Google once again has 41mm and 45mm sizes which differ based on the size of the screen and the battery packing inside.

Pixel UI is the main screen front of the wearable as Google aspires to make an Apple Watch-like impact in the Android sphere. Pixel Watch 4 has an improved display, more health features via Fitbit but can the total package give you the ideal premium experience? This is what we have been looking to find out over the last few weeks.

More Screen This Time

Google has managed to give the Pixel Watch 4 more screen space by reducing the bezels on the Actua screen. You get to see more details on the Watch 4 even with the 41mm variant, while the 45mm gives you more screen estate.

The design aspect of the Pixel Watch 4 is not very different from the previous version but you feel this is a more polished version of the two. The crown on the right side allows you to scroll through the screen and even doubles up as a button to access the main app interface.

The Watch 4 41mm variant is light enough to wear the whole day and even sleep wearing it without feeling any discomfort.

The choice of the strap material is suspect, especially when the dry and hot weather leaves a mark. The display is smooth, bright enough to see under harsh sunlight and does its job quite well.

The FitBit Evolution

The Pixel Watch 4 continues with its Fitbit integration which means you have Apple Watch-like health features strapped on the wrist. But does it perform like its biggest rival? The Watch 4 does the usual health stuff quite well and it even has the auto tracking feature when you go for a walk, cycle or even on the bike.

The heart rate sensor is also quite effective and gives you the data in the right manner. There are other features locked into the Fitbit premium version which we didn’t get a chance to try but it is clear that Google is using the Fitbit expertise to build its ecosystem of products where the Pixel Watch 4 heavily features.

The Pixel UI For Watch

We’ve seen the Pixel UI show its quality on the phones and the Watch is getting a wearable version of the same interface. And its fluidity is the same as we have become used to with the Pixel phones over the last few years.

It is simple, not a lot of clutter and easy to browse through tabs, sections and more. It has the Android 16 version as the base for the new software and it is as stock as they come.

How It All Works

The Watch 4 has all the attributes of a premium device and the linking with other fitness apps means you can try it out across platforms. Google is keeping this Android exclusive, much like Apple’s decision to not make Apple Watch work with Android phones.

You strap it on the wrist and go about your day as the Watch 4 seamlessly stays in the background and does it work. The 41mm variant has a smaller battery which means you can’t get it for around 2 days on a single charge but the improvement from the Watch 3 has been evident during the last few weeks testing.

It even gets faster charging and a new pin-based dock which is easier to live with. The Watch 4 fully charges in under an hour and is quite brisk with its 50 percent juice up.

All said and done, Google still doesn’t have the LTE model of the Watch 4 in India and we just can’t understand the market reasons that have got them to this decision.

Google Pixel 4 is a solid sequel to the Watch 3 that has more screen space, gives you longer support on a single charge and even gets fast charging. The Fitbit ecosystem handles the health duties while the Google Pixel UI brings fluidity to the whole experience.
