Hours after getting appointed as India’s captain in the Under-19 Asia Cup, Ayush Mhatre grabbed eyeballs with his ferocious knock in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Batting against Vidarbha, the 18-year-old smashed an unbeaten 110 off 53 balls in the chase of 193. His knock helped Mumbai beat Vidarbha by 7 wickets in Lucknow and maintain an unbeaten streak in the ongoing T20 domestic tournament.

Ayush was phenomenal during his stay in the crease. Carrying his bat, the teenager smashed 8 fours and as many maximums, striking at 207.55. While he stood out as the top scorer for Mumbai, the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube contributed 35 and 39 runs, respectively. Ajinkya Rahane fell for a 2-ball duck while wicketkeeper-batter Hardik Tamore scored 1 off 3.

For Mumbai, Dube was the pick of the bowlers, returning 3 for 31, while Siraj Patil also picked up 3 for 33 in 4 overs.
