India’s squad announced for U19 Asia Cup

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to X on Friday (November 28) to announce India’s squad for the upcoming 2025 edition of the U-19 Asia Cup. In the 15-member team picked for the tournament starting December 12 in Dubai, 18-year-old Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre has been named as India’s U19 captain, and Vihaan Malhotra will be his deputy.

14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is playing for Bihar in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025 these days, is also part of the squad.

Kishan Kumar Singh is also included in the squad, but his participation in the eight-team tournament is subject to fitness clearance.

The BCCI selectors have also named four standby players – Rahul Kumar, Hemchudeshan J, BK Kishore, and Aditya Rawat – for the eight-team tournament in December.

In the U19 Asia Cup 2025, India is clubbed with Pakistan in Group A, and the other two teams will be decided post the conclusion of qualifiers.

A total of 14 teams – Bahrain, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand and UAE – are playing in the qualifiers, and the two finalists and one third-place team will qualify for the main tournament.
