WPL Auction 2026 Live Updates: Women’s Premier League Set For Shake Up, 277 Players To Go Under The Hammer

WPL Auction 2026 Live Updates: Hello and and welcome to our live coverage of the first-ever mega auction in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) history. The five-team franchise competition, hailed for heralding a new era in Indian women’s cricket in 2023, is set to take another huge step in the right direction, all with the momentum of the recent 2025 World Cup win for the Women in Blue on its back.

The auction will take place on Thursday in New Delhi, with 277 players — 194 Indians and 83 overseas — set to go under the hammer. The event begins with the marquee set featuring eight stars: Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr, Sophie Ecclestone, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, and Laura Wolvaardt.

A total of 73 slots, including 23 overseas spots, are available across the franchises, each of which can build a squad of 15 to 18 players. This year introduces a major rule change: teams can use up to five Right to Match (RTM) cards to reclaim players from their 2025 squads, with franchises that retained fewer players getting more RTMs and a larger purse. The combined auction purse stands at INR 41.1 crore.
