Apple’s first foldable could be pricey and premium
Apple’s iPhone Foldable journey is widely tipped to start next year even though the company could stagger its iPhone 18 series launch in two phases. The new fold has been in the news forever but Apple is inching closer to the big debut, something that its rival Samsung will be keeping a close eye on.
And now, analysts are sharing their views about the iPhone Fold and also how Apple could price it in the market for the buyers. The new model will also be Apple’s first real attempt to make iOS work on the foldable, something many are eager to see work out.
iPhone Fold Price Hint: Costly Or Reasonable?
The rumours about the iPhone Fold price has been shared by analyst at Fubon Research, Arthur Liao, who claims the foldable from Apple will be priced at $2,399 (Rs 2.14 lakh approx) which will make it costlier than the 1TB iPhone 17 Pro Max version. Going by the price estimate, Apple might reserve its foldable device for select markets, similar to its strategy with the Vision Pro headset.
The use of premium and lightweight materials could be the reason why the iPhone Fold will be costly but this is Apple so the mentioned price tag is not surprising by any means. However, the analyst is not beating down the chances of the product, as he claims, Apple will be able to sell a total of 15.4 million units of its first-gen iPhone Fold with 5.6 million of them expected in 2026 itself.
The iPhone Fold could have Samsung’s help with the flexible OLED display while the cover will feature a 5-inch or a 6-inch screen. The iPhone Air might have given us a good idea about the design and structure of the foldable, and the use of titanium for the device feels inevitable.
It could be launching with the A20 Pro chipset that will also power the iPhone 18 Pro series launching next year around the same time. Google’s Pixel fold has gone for a durable approach, but we expect Apple to find the right balance between its design and functionality.
