India faces USA in the 2026 Men’s U-19 World Cup opener in Zimbabwe and Namibia. Tanzania debuts, Japan returns.
2026 ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup (X)
India will face the USA in the opening match of the 2026 Men’s U-19 World Cup, which will be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15 to February 6.
The tournament will feature 16 teams divided into four groups for the initial stage, with a total of 41 matches to be played over 23 days.
India is placed in Group A along with the USA, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Group B includes Zimbabwe, Pakistan, England, and Scotland, while Group C features defending champions Australia, Ireland, Japan, and Sri Lanka.
Group D consists of Tanzania, the West Indies, Afghanistan, and South Africa.
The ICC announced the tournament schedule on its website on Wednesday. This event will mark the debut of Tanzania and the return of Japan, who participated in the 2020 edition.
India will play their first match against the USA on January 15, followed by games against Bangladesh on January 17 and New Zealand on January 24. All of India’s matches will be held at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Six stage, dividing into two groups of six teams each.
The knockout stage will follow, featuring two semi-finals and a final, with reserve days available for these matches, according to the ICC.
