Spotify has changed its plans in the Indian market but the bigger news is that lossless audio on the streaming platform is also coming to the country. Apple Music has served hi-fi audio support for its users without charging them extra but Spotify wants to make it a premium experience, which means you shell out more for the new music version.

That’s not all, Spotify has revamped its plans available in the country which now includes a Lite, Standard and Platinum version, wherein the last one gives you lossless audio. This means that buying any Spotify premium plan in India will not give you audio in the higher quality.

Spotify India Plans Revised: What You Get Now

Spotify Lite is the most affordable version which still costs you Rs 139 per month. You get the Standard plan for Rs 199 per month and the most expensive of the trio of the Platinum plan that brings lossless audio and more features at Rs 299 per month.

This is a significant price bump from Spotify in the country, much more than what you were paying before and more expensive than Apple Music and YouTube Premium in the market.

So what do these new plans offer for their increased prices? The Spotify Lite plan gives you high audio quality (which is not lossless) and you cancel anytime. The Standard version lets you download tracks for offline playback, and gives very high audio quality.

And the most premium version lets you access up to 3 accounts, offline playback, lossless audio up to 24-bit, mix your playlists, your AI DJ, AI playlist creation, connect DJ software and more. With these changes, Spotify does become expensive and the AI-ness of the platform is going to cost you more. Yes, lossless audio is a useful addition but does it need to come at a premium when Apple Music dishes out without any extra charge.

Lossless audio is not easily available in the country, and if you are on Android then Spotify becomes the logical choice, however, Apple Music is cheaper, gives you other benefits and still gets a shout.
