WhatsApp has made big strides this year by launching the iPad app first and now a dedicated version for Apple Watch.
Apple Watch users are finally getting a dedicated app
WhatsApp users on iPhone can finally head over to their wrist for new message alerts, calls and even react to messages with emojis. What this means is that the messaging app finally has an app for the Apple Watch users who have one of the latest Series models. WhatsApp has been testing the beta version over the last few weeks and the official app has rolled out for those using the Apple Watch.
The new app allows you to get all the popular WhatsApp features on the wrist without having to take out the iPhone all the time. It is quite surprising to see that WhatsApp (and Meta) has taken this long to come out with native iPad app as well as easy access to the platform on the Apple wearable.

WhatsApp has confirmed that the Apple Watch app can do a lot of things that you cannot do by easy pairing with an iPhone. The features are:
Call notifications: You can see who’s calling without needing to look at your iPhone.
Full messages: You can read full WhatsApp messages on Apple Watch –- even long messages are visible directly from your wrist.
Voice messages: You can now record and send voice messages.
React to messages: We’ve added the ability to send quick emoji reactions to messages you receive.
Media experience: You’ll see clear images and stickers on your Apple Watch.
Chat history: You can see more of your chat history on screen when reading messages.
It is intriguing to see that voice or video calls on WhatsApp are not going to work with the Apple Watch, something that could be linked to how open the company is to make these features work. To use the WhatsApp app on Apple Watch you will need the Apple Watch Series 4 or later models that are running the watchOS 10 version or later.
WhatsApp also assures that all your personal messages and calls on the Apple Watch will remain private with end-to-end encryption enabled by default. The messaging app has also offered a new and easy way for users to enable encryption for their backed up chats. Using passkey for encrypted chat backups means you can simply use the fingerprint sensor or Face ID and have the content secure.
