Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole the spotlight with a blistering 67-ball 93 as Bihar’s Ranji Trophy Plate Group clash against Meghalaya ended in a draw on Tuesday.
The young left-hander, already turning heads with his fearless stroke play, hammered nine fours and four sixes, scoring the bulk of Bihar’s 156 for 4 in reply to Meghalaya’s 408 for 7 declared.
After losing opener Arnav Kishor early, Suryavanshi steadied the innings with a 92-run stand alongside Mangal Mahrour (25), followed by another 41-run partnership with Bipin Saurabh (15).
Adding to his stellar day, the teenage prodigy, who has already toured Australia and England in recent months, received a call-up to India A for the upcoming Rising Stars Asia Cup, to be held in Qatar from November 14 to 23.
The tournament will be played at the West End International Cricket Stadium in Doha, with Jitesh Sharma leading the squad and Naman Dhir named as vice-captain.
