Honeywell has been a surprising entry into the audio segment this year, and we got to test its credentials with the Aviator high-end speaker. Now, we got a chance to try out its Trueno U8000 5.1 channel soundbar system and we were intrigued to see what buyers can expect from a brand that is not a Sony, Samsung or even JBL in this space.

It has Dolby Atmos support with a slew of connectivity features on offer, but does Honeywell have enough in the tank to become a strong option? We used the unit for a few weeks to find the answer.

The Soundbar Package

The Trueno 8000 has the typical soundbar package for a 5.1 channel unit and you get two satellite speakers along with a 165W sub-woofer and the main part which connects all of them together.

The build quality is glossy but feels solid and sits comfortable on the surface in your living room. You have touch controls at the top and the main ports at the back of the main soundbar unit.

The sub woofer is also built with rugged use in mind while the twin satellite speakers sit on the side and widen the reach of the audio to more corners. You have the remote which lets you control all functions. Once you get over the amount of wires involved in the process, the setup is easy and can be done without any expert help in most cases. So yes, this whole package with the additional speakers is a competent unit.

What You Get

Now that we have covered the in-box package and the additional units offered, time to look further into the product and what it offers in terms of the features. For connectivity you get Bluetooth in the wireless mode, but there’s also USB, 3.5 mm headphone jack and HDMI Arc optical port. You can switch between these modes using the soft-touch buttons at the top or use the bundled remote and use the soundbar in different ways.

However, we did notice that the soundbar doesn’t let you switch between two devices seamlessly which is quite strange for a product in this range. You also have Dolby Atmos audio support but the hi-res codes are not compatible.

How’s The Sound?

Let’s talk about the main purpose of this product which is the audio quality and other aspects of sound that you get to experience. The combo of having a sub-woofer and satellite speakers is evident from the first second to start using the soundbar.

The deep bass impact is hard to miss and even at high volume the sound is clear as well as crisp which is much needed when you watch movies. You can tweak the bass or treble output from the remote and the LED display on the soundbar unit keeps you updated on the current level. It also has different equaliser modes that can be tuned to your preference, sound reach and more.

We tried a wide array of genres in music and movies to understand the depth of the product and how it delivers in terms of the output. The music side results were quite good and satisfactory while the movies made us binge a few of our favourite titles after a long time. The mix of the bass thump and the clarity for the vocals is a tuning that is hard to find in this range and the balance of the soundstage lets you enjoy all content.

The Trueno U8000 is a decent shot to enter the premium soundbar arena in the Indian market with its 5.1 channel support that focuses on bass and clear audio. It does enrich the sound quality in the living room and for Rs 21,000 some people might find it decent for the price.
