The Indian women’s team scripted history at the DY Patil Stadium on Thursday as they completed the biggest chase in the history of the women’s game against Australia to move into the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.

India successfully chased down the target of 339 runs set by the Aussie women in 48.3 overs with 5 wickets in hand as Jemimah Rodrigues dazzled with an unbeaten ton.

Rodrigues reached her century in 115 deliveries, keeping India on course in their chase of 339 runs against the Australian women.

The Australian women won the toss and chose to bat first, amassing a formidable 338 runs in 49.5 overs, thanks to Phoebe Litchfield’s century and half-centuries from Ashleigh Gardner and Ellyse Perry.

Alyssa Healy and Litchfield opened the innings for the most successful side in the tournament’s history, but Healy fell quickly to Kranti Goud, managing just 5 runs off 15 deliveries. Perry then joined Litchfield, and together they put up a 155-run partnership for the second wicket.

Litchfield’s aggressive batting helped her reach the triple-figure mark before she was dismissed by Amanjot Kaur. Perry added 77 runs before falling to Radha Yadav. Beth Mooney contributed 24 runs before being taken out by Sri Charani, who also dismissed Annabel Sutherland.

Gardner scored 63 runs before being run out by Goud, after Tahlia McGrath also suffered the same fate at the hands of Rodrigues. Alana King was dismissed by Deepti Sharma for 4 runs, and Kim Garth was run out by Amanjot Kaur after scoring 17 runs off as many balls.

Shafali Varma and Smriti Mandhana began the chase for India but were dismissed early, with Garth removing Varma for 10 runs and sending Mandhana back for 24 runs.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Rodrigues then steadied the Indian chase, putting up a 167-run partnership. However, the captain was dismissed by Sutherland for 89 runs.

Rodrigues remained unbeaten on 127 to help the hosts close out the game with Richa Ghosh and Amanjot Kaur adding 26 and an unbeaten 15 respectively.
